Senate Hears Presentation On University-Based Homeland Security

Richard Ewing, vice president for research at Texas A&M, discussed the Integrative Center for Homeland Security during a meeting of the Faculty Senate on Monday (July 14). He reviewed the 14 focus points of the university-based plan and noted that existing centers at Texas A&M and those of the A&M System have been brought together to form the new center.

During the Committee of the Whole, Charles Johnson, dean of the College of Liberal Arts, spoke to the Senate about the decision to close the Department of Journalism. He noted that information presented to the department's faculty and staff is available at "http://journalism.tamu.edu":http://journalism.tamu.edu. Also during the Committee of the Whole, Martha Loudder gave a presentation on progress made by the Task Force for Academic Integrity. A web site soon will be available with information gathered by the task force.
