Web site offers video highlights from FAZD Center's 2008 annual meeting

A new page on the FAZD Center's web site offers the public a glimpse into the FAZD Center's 2008 annual meeting with selected video highlights, Power Points and abstracts.

The two-day meeting brought together more than 75 researchers and stakeholders from across the nation to discuss issues and share solutions concerning foreign animal and zoonotic diseases in the United States.

The selected videos are synchronized to their corresponding Power Point. Each features presentations by FAZD Center principal investigators as they explore cross-cutting research:

  • C.J. Peters (University of Texas Medical Branch) and David Hartley (Georgetown University),  Linking biological and modeling elements of research on Rift Valley Fever.
  • Bruce McCarl (Texas A&M) and Tim Carpenter (University of California, Davis), "Linking epidemiologic and economic models for risk and consequence assessment."
  • James A. Wall, Texas Engineering Experiment Station, "Application of epidemiologic and economic models for dynamic preparedness and training simulators."
  • John Hoffman, a senior fellow with the National Center for Food Protection and Defense, University of Minnesota, and former Visiting Scholar, U.S. Department of Homeland Security: "A Summary of Inter-Center Collaborations, including Transportation Model, Critical Assessment of State Priorities, Risk and Consequence Models Assessment."

Also included is a folder containing the Power Points for all 12 of the presentations made by FAZD Center thematic leaders and principal investigators, available for download as protected PDF files.
