Wagner named coordinator for Education and Outreach
Dr. Gale Wagner, a professor at Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine, has been named as the FAZD Center's new team coordinator for Education and Outreach Systems.
He will provide oversight for FAZD Center programs designed to provide the next generation of science power for homeland security in the area of foreign animal and zoonotic diseases. Current programs include the Avian Flu School for early responders, the mass mortality workshops for industry stakeholders, and the graduate education program in veterinary public health.
Dr. Wagner earned his bachelor of science in microbiology in 1963 from Texas Tech University. He completed his graduate work at the University of Kansas.
He has been a professor of veterinary microbiology and parasitology at Texas A&M's College of Veterinary Medicine, Texas A&M
University since 1986. He is also professor and coordinator of international programs for the College of Veterinary Medicine, a post he has held since 1991.
He has authored or co-authored more than 130 peer-reviewed publications.
