Floron (Buddy) C. Faries, Jr., DVM, M.S.

Dr. Buddy Faries is a professor and Extension specialist with the FAZD Center. He has served as a principal investigator with the center since its inception in 2004, and is also a professor and Extension veterinarian affiliated with Texas AgriLife Extension and the Texas A&M University System

Dr. Faries has authored four veterinary science books, four online veterinary science courses, and more than 1,000 print and electronic article publications in veterinary science. He also has delivered more than 1,500 seminar presentations in veterinary science.

His latest course is “Veterinary Science: Preparatory Training for the Veterinary Assistant.”

Several of his other publications are available through the FAZD Center’s Resource Library.

He has conducted outreach education for 28 years at Texas A&M University, with an emphasis on beef cattle and horse health management for producers, career-oriented veterinary science education for 4-H and FFA students, and disaster emergency management for animal owners.

Dr. Faries earned his bachelor of science in 1964 and his doctorate of veterinary medicine in 1965 from Texas A&M, and his master of science in 1968 from Oklahoma State University.

He operated a private practice for nine years in Orange and Jasper counties in Texas.

He taught veterinary parasitology and large animal medicine for veterinary students for nine years at Oklahoma State and Texas A&M .
