The Biosurveillance Common Operating Picture (BCOP) allows analysts at the National Biosurveillance Integration Center to track, organize, and share biological event information from around the world. BCOP provides analysts with an online dashboard system for ready access to websites, databases, real-time data feeds, and a variety of other information sources to support analysis.
This system aided in the response to the H1N1 outbreak in 2009 and 2010 by facilitating rapid information sharing of disease-spread data and was awarded the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Impact Award in 2010. BCOP is currently in daily use by nearly 500 DHS analysts.
