Researchers receive training in NAADSM animal disease model

Dr. Lindsey Holmstrom and Dr. Amy Delgado have received training on the North American Animal Disease Spread Model (NAADSM) from the Centers for Epidemiology and Animal Health in Fort Collins, Colo..

NAADSM is an open-source computer program designed to simulate the spread and control of foreign animal diseases in a population of susceptible livestock herds.

Dr. Holmstrom is an epidemiologist and Dr. Delgado is a research scientist for the FAZD Center in College Station. They attended training , on Aug. 27-29.

On Sept. 17-19, they attended meetings in Washington, D.C., to discuss how FAZD Center may apply NAADSM to conducting epidemiologic research for the DHS Science and Technology Directorate, for USDA-APHIS Veterinary Services, and for USDA-National Center for Animal Health Emergency Management.
